However, they are filled with the most modern technology, microphone technology to be exact.Catchbox is the name of the world’s first throwable microphone.
It is wireless, hard-wearing and made to fly across rooms. It is ideal for plenum interaction in conferences, classrooms, meetings and workshops. Under the colorful foam cover of Catchbox, you will find ingenious technology that is also a lot of fun. A functioning microphone with a 2.4 Gigahertz frequency gives a crystal clear sound. If the Catchbox is thrown thru the room or falls on the ground, it automatically suppresses the sound, so that there aren’t any squeaking sounds. The Catchbox can be used anywhere in the world, without a special license, which is not the case with some other wireless microphones.
The colorful throwable microphone comes with a separate receiver which can be connected to various sound systems, such as stereos, computers or other professional audio technology. Microphone Innovation – A colorful discussion The three Finns Mikelis Studers, Timo Kauppila and Pyry Taanila developed the microphone. They were all too familiar with the problems surrounding discussions with a large plenum. While studying at the Aalto University in Helsinki they had the idea to develop a microphone which wouldn’t be handed off to the next person, but instead would be thrown. CEO Kauppila says, “In these times, when most information is distributed over the internet, we wanted to go back to the natural way.
Where people are together in a room and have discussions.” It seems the young company has succeeded. Their technology was tested at more than 100 events, including at the game app developer “Angry Birds” and the software company “Evernote”, and the verdicts were positive. The colorful throwable microphones are now available for order in the USA, Canada and Europe. The price is 349 Euros. Exciting news for all GoPro enthusiasts, a new camera is upon us.

Swimmers need to train hard to attain their goals. In most sports, music can be a valuable aid to concentration and hence improved performance. That’s always been something of a problem underwater, though, until now: Finis’ waterproof Neptune V2 MP3 player makes music and swimming compatible. The Neptune V2 is the perfect accompaniment to laps in the pool (or even jogging in the rain).
You can listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts – all without earbuds. Sound is transmitted directly to the inner ear through the cheekbones using a patented transmission method. The MP3 player consists of three pieces, with two speakers that can be strapped securely to your swimming goggles and rest on your cheekbones, leaving you free to get on with your workout without interference. In addition, there’s no need to worry about playing music at too high a volume directly into your ears. The neat display is easy to use and shows the artist, song name, and also current play status. Charging is via USB which also ensures fast upload times to the 4GB of memory, which holds around 1,000 songs, or 60 hours of playback.
The player is compatible with the main audio formats: MP3, WMA, and AAC. Finis promises customers crystal-clear sound quality. Whether that proves to be the case in practice is for the user to decide. It remains to be seen whether the device can maintain top sound-quality regardless of swimming technique – can it cope equally well with the crawl and the breast stroke? After all, swimmers do need to break the surface to breathe from time to time. Nevertheless, the Neptune V2 receives a definite thumbs up for concept and features.
The DJ has everything set up, the guests are ready to party, there are plenty of drinks and snacks – the only thing missing is the perfect lighting. That’s where a couple of bright sparks from Brooklyn come in. They invented the L3D Cube, a 3D LED matrix that responds to music and background noise via its built-in microphone and transforms sound into a one of a kind light display. Right now, the project is still in the formative stage on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, but it has already proved tremendously popular. They targeted $38,000 in funding – after just a few days, it has already received backing to the tune of more than $122,000. And there are still 26 days left until the deadline. The L3D is getting a lot of attention, and it’s not hard to see why.
The cubes don’t just react to music and voices – they can also respond to each other, and to other sensors like Microsoft’s Kinect, Structure, the Leap Motion 3D Controller, or MaKey MaKey. The L3D Cube comes with a starter kit and can easily be put together within a half hour. You don’t have to program the 3D effects yourself, but the L3D gives you the option to do so. Yes, you can create your own visualisations and upload them to ‘CubeTube’, where they can be shared with other L3D users (who can download them for free). The LED cubes are available in two sizes: the smaller version measures 18.4 x 18.4 x 23cm and has 512 RGB LEDs; the bigger version measures 50 x 50 x 54 cm and has 4096 RGB LEDs.
So the only question is: are you ready to party? It get late earlier” – autumn is definitely here. There might still be a few sunny day, but there’s already a nip in the air in the mornings. Wearing headphones on the way to work or can start becoming a bit of a pain at this time of year. Without a hat you get cold, with a hat you can’t get your headphones on properly.
Not to worry: you can take whatever winter throws at you if you have the Gadget of the Week, the Bluetooth iMusic Beanie. This iMusic headgear has a real trick up its sleeves (as it were) – integrated headphones that connect to your smartphone or tablet (or other device) via Bluetooth. It can be charged without fuss via USB, and there are no cables. Let’s be having you, winter!
And if you don’t happen to fancy listening to music, you can always take the earpieces out and enjoy a simple old school beanie to keep your ears warm. Autumn, thou hast thy music too! Music must match the mood. Sure, you can do that with a playlist, but you have to take time out to make them first. What if there was a device that could automatically adapt to the situation in the room and start playing the right music, depending on who is present? This is exactly what a group of French music lovers asked themselves before creating Prizm – probably the most ingenious music player of all time. It started as a crowd funding project.
Now, it’s just a question of time before it hits the shops. Prizm is a Linux desktop device that streams music. Via Bluetooth, it analyses the listening habits and musical tastes of everyone in the room, and based on that plays the most suitable music. Prizm also has a built-in microphone which measures background noise.
If it’s quiet in the room, the smart player lowers the volume and chooses the appropriate musical genre. If it’s a little bit more lively, on comes the party music. It does so by connecting to the internet streaming services Soundcloud to select the right songs.
Additional music streaming services are set to follow. The music is transmitted to Prizm over Wi-Fi, which connects to speakers either via Bluetooth or the old-fashioned way with cables. Two buttons on Prizm let you either ‘love’ or ‘dislike’ music, and there’s also an app to control the device. The bonus here is that Prizm is continually learning your preferences. D that’s an opinion shared by the more than 1,000 sponsors who have already supported the project on Kickstarter.
It’s already clear that Prizm is going into full-scale production. With $131,000, the project has taken in almost double the funding needed. Arriving in summer 2015, Prizm will let you choose YOUR soundtrack to the summer.
Fashion and functionality can make the perfect combination. The proof The kooky headphones that won’t just be scratching cat lovers behind the ears. The Axent Wear cat ear headphones aren’t available in the shops – yet.
The crowd funding project is still seeking backers. With success – the cat headphone idea has proven so resonant that almost $800,000 has been raised within a matter of days. “Axent Wear designs innovative headphones the like of which have never been seen before,” says Victoria Hu, who found Axent Wear together with her friend Wenqing Yan. Kitty Headphone Features What makes these headphones so innovative?
Cat ears with built-in speakers and LED lights, which can be switched on or off at any time. Choose between blue, red, green, and purple. The deluxe, particularly eye-catching model even comes with multi-coloured LEDs. In addition, the large earpieces are made from recycled materials, there is a built-in microphone, and a broad headband for a comfortable fit.
During the development phase of their cat headphones, Victoria and Wenqing made full use of social media. Their Facebook friends were able to contribute both to naming the company and the design of the headphones. “Each new prototype came a little bit closer to the headphones we have now,” says Yan.Catmania! Cat content is booming – these unique headphones have proved it once again.
And you can check out the video on YouTube as well. In the beginning was the idea: what if there was a light bulb that could not only change colours, but also play music – and all controlled via smartphone? Inventors in Atlanta have turned this idea into a reality and developed LightFreq. LightFreq is a light bulb that houses a 5 watt speaker capable of HD audio. Its LEDs provide full 360 degree coverage with 16 million colours, at an intensity of 800 lumens. A real wonder gadget, and one that has even more tricks up its sleeve. LED – Packed with the Latest Technology This little light bulb has everything your heart desires: music can be streamed over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and controlled using smartphone and tablet apps.
Each smartbulb contains a microphone, turning it into an intercom. LightFreq can even be programmed to change colours when you receive an incoming notification. A further bonus is the follow me mode – LightFreq will play music from your smartphone in the room you are currently in, so if you equip your home with multiple LightFreq LEDs, you will never have to stop listening to your favourite music, whether you are in the living room, dining room, or bedroom. LightFreq was made possible thanks to crowd funding. $50,000 had to be raised before production could start – more than 1,000 backers have already pledged over $180,000 with 10 days left to go. More information – and the chance to back the project with your own pledge – can be found at www.kickstarter.com LightFreq: A Project with a Bright Future LightFreq has clearly got what it takes to make a big name for itself – this is a product that’s going to be making waves in the industry for a long time to come.

Hey guys, I m aware that thebest-buy DJ midi controller issue is a trendy on this Forum. Since Im in the process of getting one, but not as a beginner, I will try to make a short feedback in order to help the others. Also, I want to use this conversation and your opinion to help myself as well. STEP 1: DJing is a hobby for 7 years now. Although I have never made money as club DJ, I had some nice DJ sets on my friends’ private parties. Since all was just for fun, I have never had machines of my own, so played the rented ones. Trust me, after a years of playing only on laptop, adapting on different machines in real life is a cake.
So, I do believe that beginners’ basic should be spending some time in playing and listening DJ sets only on desktop/laptop – before they go for their first controller. When you made a long survey through the Serato, Virtual DJ, Traktor and othersand after you played dozens of laptop DJ sets – you will get more touch into software, but you’ll know what to expect from the machines as well. My beginning and workflow is totally attached to Traktor Scratch PRO, while later I upgraded my work with a bit of Ableton LIVE.
Virtual Dj Reloop Beatmix Serial Number
Here I have to agree with Moderator and Keymaster- choosing the right software is a step number 1 in choosing the right controller. Not just cause of the playing/genre preferences, it is also cause some of the controllers work better with certain software. And come on, if you are serious in this, find a way not to use Intro’s and Basic software. I decided to stay with Traktor PRO and Ableton, but I am open to Serato, more likely than to Virtual DJ or Rekordbox. Therefore I’ve been discussing and researching this topic and best-buy option for months now. After many personal conversations with DJs, producers, sound engineers and after a dozens of reviews read and videos watched – these 3 controllers should be the second best choice for Traktor.
First one is, of course, S2. (Of course, if you are not a 7-year old, then you’ll be more than fine with Serato Party Mix) Numark Mixtrack Pro 3, Reloop Beatmix 2 mk2 and Pioneer DDJ SB2 are something to begin with. All of them have their good and bad sides. Numark and Pioneer are definitely the leaders in DJ equipment, but Reloop is a German conquering brand on the market. Mixtrack PRO 3 has a great build quality for the price, great pitch faders, but weird one-finger-slide innovation in effect controls.
Beatmix mk2 seems like technically most advantaged with board options (cues and loops), but has shallow jog wheels and honestly does look like a toy, cause of the plastic. DDJ SB2 has a well-known Pioneer quality design, but seems lacking technically with previously mentioned.
When I say ‘technically’, I do mean ‘number of options’. The knobs and buttons are approximately the same build quality with all 3 devices. I think that all of them could be a 4-deck controllers, but with some it is a quite complicated action while in-the-mix. STEP 2: When I decided to give myself a XMas gift and finally a controller – I decided on a budget.
Which is the important step number 2. At first I didn’t want to give more than 200 EUR, but meanwhile got flexible to 300. It doesn’t necessarily means ‘cheaper-lousier’, but the price maybe makes a difference among the DJ controllers. Mixtrack PRO 3 is around 200EUR, Beatmix mk2 is 240EUR and DDJ SB2 is 260EUR.
If your budget limit for the controller is 200EUR, but you want audio interface in it – it is clear that the Mixtrack PRO 3 is the best buy. But, if you are flexible to 260-270 EUR lik I am – then it is a dilemma.
Especially if you add DDJ SBL or Mixtrack Platinum as an option. Mixtrack Quad is not an option, since it has no advantages, but 4-decks control only. So my question is: WHICH ONE IS THE SECOND BEST TRAKTOR CONTROLLER AFTER ORIGINAL TRAKTOR CONTROLLERS?. This topic was modified 1 year, 7 months ago. You are killing me guys 🙂 I do agree that the original controllers are the best-buy for the certain software.
– View photos at full resolution using the Preview window. – View and compare images side by side both horizontally and vertically. – Add or update metadata to batches of images using Photo Mechanic’s IPTC Stationary Pad. Zoom up to 800% to check for critical sharpness. Spot differences between images that are too subtle for a single image view, or just to help you pick between two top choices. Mac serial number location.
All the 3 devices I mentioned are designed for Serato and that is a fact. But here I raise a topic on which one of the non-NI controllers and their mappings – work better with Traktor!?
However report a problem you have had with any individual software listed here and we will delete it promptly. We are merely a software download directory and search engine of shareware, freeware programs available on the Internet. ||||||||||| Please direct any questions or bugs regarding software to the company that developed the program.
That issue goes with many people who are in pursue for their entry-level controller. Not all of them do have/want to spend 400EUR on S2, but do want to stay with Traktor. Statistics and online comments say that there are more people using non-NI hardware with Traktor, than the ones using the original hardware. I do believe that this could be an interesting topic. Anyway, let me rephrase it – which one is the best buy?
Pad Mode In Reloop Beat Mix 2
Mictrack Pro 3, Beatmix 2 mk2 or DDj SB2? P.S.Thanks for your efforts, I really do hope my positions and this conversation will help to not just your users, but DDJT staff with upcoming reviews as well. I really do appreciate your help and your point of views. When it comes to controllers there is no “best”.
They all have their own features that determine if it can be the best for YOU. They all have the necessary features to get you through the first part of your DJ-ing career. As for Traktor, the reason there are a lot of non-NI controllers on Traktor still is because in the early days a few years ago Serato was a VERY closed system and Traktor was sold with many non-NI controllers.
Virtual Dj Pro Serial Number
Since then Traktor has stopped working with 3rd party manufacturers of controllers and is more and more focusing on their own eco-system. And it’s not unthinkable that when the next big upgrade hits they might even exclude third party controllers altogether. Also, when you use non-NI controllers with Traktor the jog wheels will not function as well as with an NI controller. Finally, if you want to use non-NI (up-to-date) controllers with Traktor you are totally dependent on either the controller manufacturer and/or the Traktor community for mappings and such. This is also true for the R-series of Pioneer, which will work only with RekordBox, as opposed to (for example) the SX, which is optimized for Serato, but will work with VDJ, Mixvibes Cross, DJay Pro, RekordBox of course and many other programs, often natively. So, it’s just not a good decision to use those controllers with Traktor. Better to look for a used S2 or S2mk2 if you want to go the Traktor route.
Plenty of them out there. I’ve read many of your comments on similar topics and still don’t get why you avoid to say some devices are “better” or even “the best” in a certain category/class.
I do respect the fact that choosing a controller is a prsonal thing (closely tight to personal mixing/software/hardware preferences), but what is the point of your reviews if we don’t make a difference!? I know many of us are bothering you with similar questions, but we’re here cause we trust your experience and judgement. So yes, I am aware on NI versus non-NI battle issues and dependence of online community, when it comes to Traktor mappings.
But while some see that as a problem, for me is an opportunity. Without wide communication between users, we won’t be having better and lousier Traktor mappings, which implies that we do have hardware more and less compatible with Traktor. Let me give you Denon controllers as an example, which are the best compatibile with Traktor, comparing to others non-NI manufacturers. Of course, none of them will be the perfect replacement for NI controllers. Also, I have to stress that I asked for “the best-buy” advice on the 3 listed controllers in this topic. Not to discuss about “the best one”, cause it’s more or less impossible to come to a common conclusion.
So, all 3 are officially matched with Serato only, but do have different prices. Denon has a long history of being sold with traktor. The Mc2000 being an “old” controller was also natively supported. It’s the more recent controllers that suffer of the lack of traktor(-made or -approved) mappings. As for the “the best” issue, let me give you 1 or 2 examples of why you can not make this claim. Some of the controllers have gain knobs, which is very important is you don’t want to use auto-gain (good reasons for that by the way), but if you like auto-gain, having gain knobs has little added value.
Same is true for dedicated filter knobs. Or for long or short pitch faders, or the number of performance pads and their modes, or the location of jog wheel and transport buttons. The more expensive (semi-)pro controllers will mostly have all the features but starter controllers will have one and not the other or vice versa. So, what I consider the best based on the features that I value the most, might not be the best based on your valued features. This is why we can’t/won’t give out a definite ranking (even if we don’t take the software into account), but prefer giving a shortlist of 4-5 controllers that are all very capable starter controllers and tips on how to define your desired features.
Integrated USB audio interface Reloop Beatmix comes with an integrated USB audio interface to conveniently send the output to a hi-fi or PA system. Additionally, headphones and even a microphone can be connected directly into the unit. Needless to say, professional ASIO drivers are also on-board to offer ultra low latency for tight track control and responsiveness whilst in the mix. The focus here is clearly about uncomplicated mixing. Unpack, connect and start mixing immediately.
